Engineers Without Borders™ - USA

Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 2000 to help developing areas worldwide with their engineering needs, while involving and training a new kind of internationally responsible engineering student. EWB-USA projects involve the design and construction of water, waste-water, sanitation, energy, and shelter systems. These projects are initiated by the host community, and are completed with funding obtained by the organization. EWB also trains the local population to operate the systems without external assistance. In this way, EWB-USA ensures that its projects are appropriate and self-sustaining. The projects are conducted by both student and professional chapters.

Johnson Space Center Chapter

The Engineers Without Borders Johnson Space Center Chapter is an association of Johnson Space Center (JSC) employees, contractors and other professionals in the Houston/Clear Lake area who volunteer their time to participate in the projects and efforts of Engineers Without Borders-USA. The video below describes some of the efforts undertaken by EWB-JSC:

The EWB-JSC Chapter partners with student chapters and professionals to continue development in under served communities in the United States and abroad in a manner consistent with the objectives of EWB-USA. Participation in this chapter is purely volunteer based on members' own time, and is not directly endorsed or supported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
